Hello, my name is Victor.
I found myself in the pound late last year. It was cold and noisy, I was very lonely and frightened in there so I wished hard every day that I could leave. One day my wish came true. Someone came and took me for a drive in their car. I was still scared and wondered what was going on but somehow I knew things were changing for the better.
After a long drive I arrived at more kennels but these were special as they belonged to ĎThe Senior Staffy Clubí and that meant that I was safe and that they would look after me.
I had to go to that vets place, itís not my favourite but I knew it had to be done and I can be bribed with treats!. I heard the vet say that I need to put on some weight before I could have Ďthatí operation, (the one called 'neutering' I think!) but all the time I was in the kennels I was so stressed I couldnít put on any weight.
I had lots of lovely cuddles, treats, toys, walks and Christmas presents and even a Christmas dinner but nothing worked, then one day one of my walkers took me for a drive in her car to a ladyís house who I had never met, well...she is now my frosty (foster) Mum!
The first thing she did was give me a bath, so I returned the favour and shook off all my excess water over her...hee-hee, hopefully she wonít do that again, although I did secretly like it and I smelt so nice afterwards.
The next few weeks I had lovely walks, lovely food, lovely cuddles. I finally put some weight on and I have now had Ďthatí operation and even had my teeth cleaned! I am now ready to find my furever home...yipee!
I think I would like a home where I can have lots of cuddles, I am a lazy little monkey in the mornings, I do love a lie in, but at my age I think that is allowed. My frosty Mum thinks Iím funny because when Iím in my bed I manage to get the blanket right over me so Iím completely covered with maybe a foot or a tail poking out, she says I am a bit of a grump sometimes though when she tries to get me out of bed!....she says I am just like Victor Meldrew!
In the car I like to chatter a bit in true Victor Meldrew style, but I donít mind being left for a few hours in the house, well that means I can snuggle down in my bed undisturbed...did I say I like my bed A LOT!
I do like to be warm, I donít like to go out in the cold without my coat on either...brrrrr!
I enjoy my walks and saying hello to everyone, although I am not too keen on other dogs, so I would prefer a home of my own. My frosty Mum says I snuffle when I trot along...thatís normal though, right?
Iím looking forward to meeting my new family very soon
Lots of love
Victor is neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. He is currently in foster in Chesterfield, Derbyshire but can be re-homed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any potential adopter should be willing to travel to meet Victor here he is now.
