Exclamation Known Traffic problems/scheduled road closures

M1 is closed this weekend between J9-J11 both ways between 8pm Saturday evening and midday Sunday and the Grand Prix is on in Silverstone 6-8th July so A43 (one of the main link up routes between M1 and Oxfordshire) will be severely affected.

FB status update from Hampshire Police:

"We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic incident on the M3 southbound. A coach has overturned about a mile away from Fleet Services. The motorway is closed at junction 4a. A diversion is in place along the A30.
Currently there are no serious injuries reported. As the road is likely to be closed for some time, drivers are advised to avoid the area."

The area around Newark Showground will be snarled up on Jan 15,16 and 17; there's some kind of big agricultural show, which means slow-moving machinery on the surrounding roads.

SILVERSTONE WEEKEND 4-6TH JULY A43 NO THROUGH ROAD

No access from M1 to M40 on A43 - All traffic goes towards Silverstone in the mornings and away from Silverstone in the afternoons. There is a signposted alternative route - but it is a bit far around. If there are any runs along that route - please PM me, I am local and know the little country lanes.

Exclamation Dartford crossing changes imminent

Anyone considering using the M25 either direction via Dartford, needs to check online :
(A) whether its open :i've just read its closed this weekend,
And (b) how to pay: the toll booths are being removed and I think its online payment from now on.

Online only? That's gonna be a major pain surely! Maybe there'll be text message/phone payment too? That sounds awfully restrictive.

I'm not sure of the full details, think there might be a facility to pay in some shops... And a prepayment system for those who use the crossing a lot, though thankfully I dont.

This weekend is a bike ride with loads of road closures in and around London and Surrey - London mostly on Saturday, then Sunday the route goes down into Surrey and back up - its a real pain if you need to do runs in those areas !!
